What Does Hard Work Mean to You?

For me, hard work is more than a habit—it is part of who I am. It is a commitment to providing for my family, serving my community, and creating opportunities that make a lasting difference in the lives of others.
For the past 28 years, I have worked relentlessly. During much of that time, I balanced multiple careers while pursuing my entrepreneurial dreams. I worked full-time at Boston Children's Hospital, part-time at Faulkner Hospital, and additional hours at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. At the same time, I built two businesses: the International Dominoes Association and Lincoln Values LLC.
My workweeks often ranged from 94 to 120 hours, seven days a week. That schedule demanded sacrifice, discipline, and determination.
Looking back, there is one thing I would change.
If I could do it over again, I would spend more time with my family. While I am proud of my work ethic and everything it helped me accomplish, time is something we can never get back. My greatest lesson is that success means very little if we don't make time for the people we love.
Some years, I had only six days off for the entire year. My days away from work were usually major holidays or special moments like attending one of my children's graduations or taking them out for ice cream. Those memories remind me that life's greatest rewards are not only measured by what we earn but by the moments we share with those closest to us.
Even so, I will never apologize for working hard. Every hour I invested was driven by one purpose: to create a better future for my family, strengthen my community, and build opportunities for others. Hard work has never been about personal success alone—it has always been about making a positive impact.
That same philosophy guides everything I do today. Through the International Dominoes Association and Lincoln Values LLC, I am committed to empowering players, employees, customers, and communities. I believe every organization should be built on a foundation of quality, excellence, love, respect, integrity, and dignity.
As I continue this journey, I strive to lead by example. I want my children, my colleagues, and future generations to understand that success is earned through perseverance, honesty, and a willingness to serve others. At the same time, I want them to remember that true success also includes making time for family, building meaningful relationships, and enjoying the moments that matter most.
My hope is that my story inspires others to pursue their dreams with passion, work with integrity, and never stop believing in what is possible. Hard work can change your life, but when it is combined with compassion, purpose, and balance, it has the power to change the lives of countless others.
